I was with IMEF (1st Marine Expeditionary Force) in Iraq as the war in Iraq started.  We crossed the LOD (Line of Departure) and the border into Iraq under the cover of darkness in 2003.  We were there in the beginning, when the now elusive enemy either fought and died or ran.  We liberated an oppressed nation of citizens who want what we all want...a safe place to raise our children, work, worship our chosen diety, and build a better future for our country.  We were running operations north of Bagdad when the Saddam statue was pulled down by those same citizens, with a little help from our machines.  We lost a few tough souls along the way, but we all knew we were helping people in Iraq and simultaneously protecting our country's future through, if nothing else, goodwill towards man.

These six prints were a small selection of many sketches I did in Iraq while waiting to redeploy (return) to the U.S.A.  We had about a month to repeatedly clean our equipment with less than adequate supplies, maintain our perimeter and finally read our mail.  In the space between, my creative juices started flowing.  I started sketching out the beginnings of what would eventually be a tattoo on my left shoulder.  As other Marines saw what I was doing, they would ask me to draw one for them, and so on.  I probably drew 50-60 sketches in that month, most of which, I will never see again. 

These six prints are just a little reminder of the things warriors go through.

 Each of these sketches has been reproduced in Limited Edition Prints, signed & numbered.  The prints are sized for 14x16 mattes and look great in at least a 16x20 frame (mattes and frames are not included).
